Bealls Inc. is an American retail firm with approximately 500 locations that was founded in Bradenton, Florida in 1915. Since its founding in 1915 in Bradenton, Florida, the family-owned firm has grown to run over 550 stores under the brands Bealls, Bealls Outlet, Burkes Outlet, and Home Centric. Matt Beall is the CEO of Bealls Inc. Although the two overlapped in some markets, Bealls Florida was not related to the Texas-based Bealls company once held by Stage Stores. (Where there was overlap, Bealls Outlet used the Burkes Outlet name.) However, on October 21, 2020, Bealls paid $7 million for Stage’s intellectual property as part of Stage’s operations winding down after the business filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in May of that year. As a result, the Florida business now has the exclusive right to use the Bealls name statewide; previously, the name could only be used in Florida, Georgia, and Arizona. Bealls also purchased the rights to the Stage, Gordmans, Goody’s, Palais Royal, and Peebles brand names, as well as all of Stage’s private label brands and client lists, as well as a distribution center in Jacksonville, Texas.
